🚨 Public Appeal: Alifereti Rusigau Missing Near Blue Mountains

PoliceNsw Police 2 min read

Police are appealing for urgent public assistance to locate 41-year-old Alifereti Rusigau, who is believed to be missing after he was last spoken to while travelling through the Blue Mountains area on Sunday, 12 December 2025, around midday.

Mr Rusigau was reportedly on his way to the Culcairn area, a significant journey of approximately 500-600 kilometres south-west from the Blue Mountains. His current whereabouts are unknown, and efforts by officers attached to Parramatta Police Area Command to contact him have been unsuccessful. Family and police hold serious concerns for his welfare, noting that his disappearance is highly out of character.

Alifereti is described as being of Pacific Islander/Maori appearance, standing between 170cm and 180cm tall, with a medium build, and is bald. He is thought to have been travelling in a white 2006 Mitsubishi Lancer, bearing NSW registration BHR55B. Mr Rusigau is known to frequent various locations, including Culcairn, Sydney, and notably, our beautiful Blue Mountains National Park region.

The Blue Mountains National Park is known for its rugged terrain, and multi-agency search and rescue operations are frequently conducted in the area for individuals who become lost or go missing in the bushland. While most missing persons cases in NSW are resolved quickly – on average, 28 people are reported missing daily, with the majority located almost immediately – every report is taken seriously, especially when concerns for welfare are raised.

Anyone who may have seen Alifereti Rusigau or has information regarding his whereabouts is urged to contact Parramatta Police Station directly or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. Information can also be provided confidentially via the Crime Stoppers online reporting page at https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au. The public is reminded not to report information through NSW Police social media channels.
