A man has been charged in relation to a suspicious building fire that occurred at a Pilates studio on Penrose Crescent, Erina, earlier this year. The incident took place around 4am on Friday, 7 March 2025, prompting an emergency response from Fire and Rescue NSW, who extinguished the blaze. The building suffered significant damage.
Following the fire, emergency services were also called to a vehicle fire in Mardi. The vehicle, believed to be a silver Hummer H3, was destroyed.
Detectives from the Brisbane Water Police District established crime scenes at both locations and launched an investigation under Strike Force Lottah. After extensive inquiries, a 33-year-old man was arrested and subsequently charged with several offences, including two counts of damaging property by fire/explosion, participating in a criminal group, breaking and entering, possessing a criminal communication device, and using a carriage service to threaten to kill.
The accused is scheduled to appear before Wyong Local Court on Friday, 12 September 2025.
