🌊 Gosford Waterfront Revitalisation Underway, Have Your Say

The Minns Labor Government is actively advancing the revitalisation of Gosford's waterfront, focusing on enhancing public spaces and improving connectivity across the area. This significant undertaking stems from an $8.5 million election commitment aimed at transforming the popular Gosford precinct.

Following comprehensive market sounding and feasibility studies, the NSW Government is now moving forward with the design and costing of an active transport shared pathway. This new pathway is set to connect Gosford to Point Clare, promising to significantly reduce travel times for cyclists and pedestrians. Furthermore, it will strengthen connections to southern localities such as Tascott, Koolewong, and Woy Woy via the existing Brisbane Water cycleway.

In parallel, a targeted public domain plan is currently being developed, with initial improvements slated for delivery within the next 18 months. The Gosford community is strongly encouraged to provide their input on what features and projects they would like to see prioritised within this plan. Suggestions could include enhanced lighting and visibility, new fitness equipment, children's playground facilities, additional picnic tables and seating, or even the addition of a boardwalk.

Minister for Planning and Public Spaces, Paul Scully, underscored the government's commitment to listening to the community, stating, "We want to make sure we're getting this right and enable Gosford waterfront to continue to evolve into a vibrant destination linked to the city and its surrounds that the fast-developing capital of the Central Coast deserves."

Minister for the Central Coast, David Harris, highlighted Gosford's burgeoning potential. "With $2.3 billion worth of development activity well underway and a dynamically changing skyline, Gosford is finally fulfilling its enormous potential," he noted, emphasising the waterfront's crucial role in the city's overall revitalisation.

Member for Gosford, Leisl Tesch, welcomed the progress, stating, "After years of glossy plans with no certainty over what can be delivered along the Gosford Waterfront, the Minns Labor Government is planning for Gosford's future." She expressed particular excitement about the allocated funding for the shared pathway, recognising the community's strong support for this vital active recreation link.

Beyond these immediate enhancements, the government is also diligently identifying further projects for the waterfront that can be delivered in the longer term, ensuring a sustained positive impact on the area for years to come.
