Four individuals have been charged following a high-speed police pursuit that originated in Dubbo and covered approximately 70 kilometres, culminating in two police vehicles allegedly being rammed. The incident, which occurred early Saturday morning, saw officers from Orana Mid-Western Police District involved in a dramatic chase.
At around 2:30 AM on Saturday, June 28, 2025, police operating under Operation Soteria were patrolling the Newell Highway in Dubbo when they spotted a sedan that had been reported stolen from Marrickville. When the driver failed to comply with directions to stop, a pursuit was initiated, heading south out of Dubbo.
The chase continued for 70 kilometres to Peak Hill, where the stolen vehicle allegedly rammed one police car, bringing the pursuit to a halt. As an officer approached the sedan, the driver reportedly accelerated towards her, prompting the officer to discharge her firearm. The vehicle then struck a second police car before a man and three women, who were allegedly inside the stolen car, were arrested and transported to Dubbo Police Station.
The alleged driver, a 24-year-old man from Redfern, faces five charges and had two outstanding warrants executed. He has been refused bail and appeared via AVL in Parramatta Local Court. Three women were also charged with being carried in a conveyance taken without consent. A 25-year-old woman from Bourke was refused bail to appear in Parramatta Local Court. The other two women, a 22-year-old from Bourke and a 20-year-old from Dubbo, were granted conditional bail and are scheduled to appear in Dubbo Local Court on August 13 and August 20, 2025, respectively.
Authorities confirmed there were no injuries to either police officers or the arrested individuals during the pursuit or subsequent arrests. Operation Soteria is a police initiative designed to combat youth crime across the state's western and northern regional areas, including the Dubbo region.
