π¨ RFS Responds to Flood, Storm & Tree Down in Horsley Park
The Minns Labor Government is moving forward with a $190 million upgrade to The Horsley Drive in Horsley Park. The project aims to widen key sections of the road and improve busy intersections.
The Horsley Drive serves as an important connection to the M7 Motorway. The upgrade is expected to reduce travel times, enhance safety for road users, and improve freight movement.
The project is supported by a joint investment from the NSW and Federal Governments. Detailed design work is underway and includes upgrading The Horsley Drive in two stages.
The NSW Government is also reviewing a Voluntary Planning Agreement from a developer. If approved alongside stage one, the agreement would upgrade The Horsley Drive to two lanes in each direction between the M7 and Cowpasture Road. Community feedback on the agreement is being considered.
Construction tenders for the Wallgrove Road and M7 intersection upgrades are expected to open in mid-2026, with work taking around two years to complete once contracts are awarded. Geotechnical and utilities investigation works will begin soon, with lane closures and traffic controls in place as part of the design process.
Minister for Roads and Regional Transport Jenny Aitchison said that this project is an incredibly important project. She also added that Western Sydney needs a significant injection of supporting infrastructure to improve peopleβs daily lives.
Member for Fairfield, David Saliba said that this upgrade is fantastic news for residents whoβve faced congestion on The Horsley Drive for years.
Member for Prospect, Hugh McDermott, stated that this project will ease traffic and improve safety for families and commuters in Prospect.
Federal Member for McMahon, Chris Bowen, said that this upgrade will help people get home safer and faster and support the growth of Western Sydney.
