🚨 Police Incident Causes Fresh Delays for Liverpool Train Commuters
A 95-year-old man has tragically died after being struck by a car in Liverpool, with police subsequently charging a man in connection with the incident.
Emergency services were called to Elizabeth Drive, Liverpool, around 10pm on Thursday, 22 May 2025, following reports that a pedestrian had been hit by a sedan. Officers from Liverpool Police Area Command arrived to find the elderly man suffering from critical injuries.
Despite the efforts of NSW Ambulance paramedics who treated him at the scene, the man was transported to Liverpool Hospital where he sadly passed away.
Following the incident, police established a crime scene and commenced a thorough investigation into the circumstances of the crash, with assistance from the Crash Investigation Unit.
A short time later, a 36-year-old man was arrested at an address in Narellan Crescent, Bonnyrigg Heights. He was taken to Liverpool Hospital for mandatory testing and was found to be uninjured. The man was then transported to Liverpool Police Station, where he was charged with failing to stop and assist after a vehicle impact causing death.
He has been granted conditional bail and is scheduled to appear before Liverpool Local Court on Thursday, 29 May 2025. Police will allege in court that the man did not stop to render aid following the collision.
