A🚦 Flashing Traffic Lights Cause Caution in Terrey Hills
Residents and visitors to Terrey Hills should be aware of several important updates concerning Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park. The NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) has issued alerts regarding temporary closures, ongoing maintenance, and pest management operations that may affect popular areas within the park.
Several precincts will experience temporary disruptions. On Monday, 23 June 2025, the Apple Tree Bay precinct, including its boat ramp, will be closed for essential carpark line marking. Similarly, carpark line marking at Bobbin Head on the same day may cause minor disruptions, with visitors advised to follow signage and staff directions.
Further maintenance is scheduled for the Apple Tree Bay carpark, which will be undergoing work from Wednesday, 4 June to Monday, 30 June 2025. Minor delays are anticipated during this period.
Safety concerns have led to partial and permanent track closures. The Berowra walking track is currently partially closed between Apple Tree Bay and the Mt-Ku-ring-gai access track due to concerns over slope instability and potential rockfalls. However, the section of the Berowra walking track from Berowra Station to Mt Ku-ring-gai remains accessible.
In the Great Mackerel Beach area, the North Mackerel track has been permanently closed due to risks associated with unstable cliff edges. Additionally, the Mackerel trail has restricted access, with no through or return routes available from the south end of Great Mackerel Beach or the west of the beach via the North Mackerel track.
A continuous 1080 pest management operation targeting foxes is underway in Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park and will continue until 31 July 2025. Residents are reminded that 1080 poison is lethal to domestic pets, including cats and dogs. All baiting locations will be clearly marked with signs, and pets must be restrained or muzzled and kept away from these areas.
