🚌 Orange Commuters Face Delays on Route 564 Coach Services
An elderly man is in a critical condition after being struck by a car while on his mobility scooter at a pedestrian crossing in Orange yesterday.
Emergency services were called to Wentworth Avenue in Orange around 1pm on Friday, August 15, 2025, following reports of an incident involving a 90-year-old man. Police found the man had been thrown onto the roadway after his mobility scooter was hit by a vehicle at a marked pedestrian crossing.
The injured man was initially transported to Orange Base Hospital before being flown to Westmead Hospital in Sydney for urgent specialised treatment. His condition is currently described as critical.
The driver of the car involved, an 87-year-old woman, underwent a roadside breath test, which returned a negative result. Officers from the Central West Police District have since suspended her licence, and her vehicle has been seized for a thorough mechanical examination as part of their ongoing inquiries.
Police are urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has dashcam footage that could assist the investigation to come forward and contact Orange Police.
