A🚨 Car Crash Impacts Traffic on Oxley Highway in Port Macquarie
A beloved Laurieton resident, Mrs Marjorie Cameron, OAM, has been recognised for her extraordinary contributions to the Port Macquarie-Hastings community. Mrs Cameron, who recently celebrated her 100th birthday, was bestowed the prestigious Medal of the Order of Australia for her decades of dedicated volunteer work.
Originally training as a nurse in Sydney, Mrs Cameron served across Australia before making Laurieton her home approximately 30 years ago. Her 100th birthday in February was a joyous occasion, marked by a dance with Port Macquarie MP Robert Dwyer at the Laurieton club.
Mrs Cameron's commitment to the community is unwavering. She continues to volunteer with numerous local organisations, including Camden Haven Community at 3 Inc., Port Macquarie Hastings Legacy, the Anglican Church, a local op shop, and the Families of Veterans Guild. A life member of Legacy, she also had the honour of being the first torchbearer for the Port Macquarie leg of the Legacy Centenary Torch Relay in 2023.
Mr Dwyer expressed his pleasure in congratulating Mrs Cameron on her OAM, stating, "It gives me great pleasure to congratulate Marjorie on receiving an OAM and to truly recognise and thank her for her decades of support to the local community." Her enduring spirit and selfless service are an inspiration to the Port Macquarie region.
