Police are urging Port Macquarie residents to come forward with any information following a disturbing assault that left a 45-year-old man with significant injuries last night.
Emergency services were called to the corner of Buller and Hollingsworth Street in Port Macquarie around 10:20 PM yesterday, Wednesday 12 November 2025, after reports of a man being attacked. It's understood the man was walking along Buller Street when he became involved in an altercation with a group of men in a passing silver Mazda. Objects were reportedly thrown from the vehicle at the pedestrian.
Following this, the man allegedly kicked the car, prompting the group to exit the vehicle and assault him, knocking him to the ground. The assailants then returned to the silver Mazda and fled the scene. A member of the public contacted emergency services, and the victim was treated at the scene before being transported to Port Macquarie Base Hospital for head and facial injuries.
Officers from the Mid North Coast Police District have established a crime scene and commenced inquiries into the incident. Investigators are keen to speak with three men, described as being of Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander appearance, who were last seen in the area driving the silver Mazda.
This incident adds to the ongoing crime landscape in Port Macquarie. According to recent data, assaults remain a prominent category of crime in the region. In the year ending June 2025, Port Macquarie recorded 575 assaults, with the overall crime rate in the Port Macquarie-Hastings area showing an increase over the past decade.
