🦊 Conjola National Park Begins Extensive Pest Control Program

AlertsNsw National Parks 2 min read

Residents and visitors to Lake Conjola are advised that extensive ground baiting programs targeting feral foxes and wild dogs are currently underway in Conjola National Park and several surrounding reserves.

The NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) is conducting these crucial operations to minimise the impact of predators on native wildlife, especially threatened species, and to reduce the impact of wild dogs on neighbouring livestock properties.

Two main programs are active: one specifically for foxes from Monday, 21st July 2025, to Sunday, 21st December 2025, and another broader pest management program for wild dogs and/or foxes running from 3rd March 2025, to 3rd September 2025.

Affected areas include not only Conjola National Park but also Murramarang National Park, Meroo National Park, Narrawallee Creek Nature Reserve, Seven Mile Beach National Park, Comerong Island Nature Reserve, Morton National Park, Parma Nature Reserve, Jerrawangala National Park, Colymea SCA, and Bees Nest Nature Reserve.

Important safety warnings are in place: signs will mark all baiting locations. Domestic pets are strictly prohibited in NSW National Parks managed lands. As 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison is lethal to cats and dogs, pet owners and those with working dogs must ensure their animals are restrained or muzzled in the vicinity of these areas and do not enter the baiting locations. In the unfortunate event of accidental poisoning, immediate veterinary assistance is crucial.

For further information on these pest management programs, contact the local NPWS Shoalhaven offices in Ulladulla on 44549500 or Nowra on 44286300.
