๐Ÿ”ฅ Quick Response Douses Small Royal National Park Blaze

Emergency ServicesAlert 1 min read

A small fire incident that sparked in the heart of the Royal National Park was swiftly brought under control by the NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS) on October 11, 2025. The incident, while minor at zero hectares, underscores the continuous vigilance required in our bushland areas within the Sutherland Council region.

The RFS confirmed the fire was contained and under control by 9:55 PM, preventing any spread. This rapid response is crucial for the Royal National Park, an area highly susceptible to bushfires due to its climate, vegetation, and terrain. The park has a history of significant blazes, including major events in 1939, 1994, and the 2001 Black Christmas fires.

The NSW RFS, as the primary combat agency for bushfires, works hand-in-hand with the National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) on comprehensive fire management strategies. These strategies include vital hazard reduction burns, which aim to decrease fuel levels and safeguard nearby communities like Bundeena and Maianbar. Such proactive measures and the swift action of emergency services are paramount in protecting both the natural environment and local residents of the Royal National Park.
