🚨Auburn Kebab Shop Shooting: Falcon Takes Lead, Thurtell Speaks

In a significant development for the Sydney suburb of Auburn, Taskforce Falcon has taken the lead in the investigation into Monday's brazen shooting at a local kebab shop. The incident, which occurred on South Parade about 1:15pm, saw two masked men storm the premises and fire eight shots before fleeing in a black Audi Q7 bearing cloned numberplates.

Three people sustained gunshot wounds and were taken to hospital for specialist treatment. Among the injured were a 26-year-old man, who suffered wounds to his shoulder and arm and is in stable condition. Police confirmed this man, who is known to authorities, was the intended target and had been subject to previous shooting attempts. In fact, police had spoken to him as recently as last Friday due to concerns for his safety.

A woman, believed to be aged 50, was shot twice in the torso and is also in stable condition, while a second man, whose age remains unconfirmed, was critically injured with a gunshot wound to the face and is in a serious condition.

Acting NSW Police Commissioner Peter Thurtell condemned the attack, describing it as "incomprehensible" and "outrageous". He stated that "these people have now taken their fight to the streets of Sydney. This is not what we expect in this city."

The investigation, now under the purview of Taskforce Falcon, a specialised unit led by the State Crime Command and the NSW Crime Commission, aims to suppress violent crime across the Sydney metropolitan area. The taskforce, supported by officers from the three metropolitan regions, boasts a strong record, having completed over 500 proactive taskings, charged 23 people with 53 charges, and seized seven firearms and 20 staged vehicles.

Following the Auburn shooting, police are also examining potential links to three vehicles found burnt out in Harris Park, Merrylands, and Greystanes. Crime scenes have been established at these locations, with Taskforce Falcon officers assisting with inquiries.
