๐Ÿš’ Industrial Inferno Engulfs Greenacre Timber Factory

PoliceNsw Police 2 min read

SYDNEY โ€“ Firefighters are tackling a significant industrial blaze that erupted at a timber products factory in Greenacre, in Sydney's south-west, on Tuesday afternoon, December 30, 2025.

Emergency services rushed to Beresford Avenue around 3 pm following reports of a fire at the facility. NSW Fire and Rescue crews are on scene working to extinguish the blaze, which is anticipated to remain active for a considerable period. An exclusion zone has been established, and authorities are urging motorists to steer clear of the area to allow emergency personnel to operate safely.

Greenacre is a key industrial hub in Sydney, with significant logistical and industrial areas, particularly around the Enfield Marshalling Yards, and numerous factory and warehouse properties. The presence of such facilities contributes to the suburb's economic activity but also presents unique challenges for emergency services during incidents of this nature.

While the cause of the fire is currently unknown and no injuries have been reported, industrial fires, especially in timber processing facilities, often involve highly flammable materials. Experts note that overheating equipment, electrical faults, and the accumulation of combustible sawdust are common culprits in such blazes, creating ideal conditions for rapid ignition and spread.

Officers from Bankstown Police Area Command, which is responsible for policing local government areas including Greenacre within the South West Metropolitan Region, have commenced inquiries into the incident. Police are appealing to the public for assistance and encourage anyone with information, dashcam footage, or mobile phone footage relating to the fire to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or visit https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au. Information can be provided confidentially, and the public is reminded not to report details via NSW Police social media pages.
