🚨 Tamworth Police Crackdown: 21 Charged in Soteria Surge
The Quirindi Advocate, a cornerstone of local journalism in the Liverpool Plains, is celebrating an extraordinary milestone: 100 years of continuous publication. Mr. Kevin Anderson, the Member for Tamworth, recently highlighted the newspaper's enduring legacy in the NSW Parliament.
Established on July 3, 1925, the Advocate was born from the merger of two local papers, the Quirindi Gazette and the Quirindi Herald. Its inaugural edition famously featured an article titled "Our Splendid District," alongside advertisements reflecting the era, such as suits from Reilly's and gramophones from W. Matterson.
Remarkably, a century later, the Quirindi Advocate remains a proudly independent voice, currently owned by former local resident Jocelyn Rose. The publication has demonstrated incredible resilience, navigating through significant historical events including droughts, floods, the Great Depression, World War II, and more recently, a global pandemic.
The newspaper continues to provide an indispensable news service, keeping the local community informed and connected. Mr. Anderson extended gratitude to Sharon and Tegan, acknowledging their crucial role in the daily operation of the Advocate. The long-standing commitment of the team ensures the paper remains a vital resource for its readers, serving the Liverpool Plains with dedication and integrity.
