Authorities are urging witnesses to come forward after a multi-vehicle collision on the Hume Highway in Thurgoona last week, where one driver allegedly failed to stop and render assistance.
Emergency services were called to the scene about 3:20 PM on Monday, 18 August 2025, following reports of a three-vehicle pile-up approximately 9.5 kilometres north-east of Albury, near the Borella Road exit on the Hume Highway in Thurgoona.
Officers from Murray River Police District were informed that a Mustang, a Toyota utility, and a third unidentified vehicle were travelling towards the Borella Road exit when the unknown car allegedly struck the rear of the Mustang. This impact caused the Mustang to collide with the Toyota utility.
The force of the collision resulted in the Toyota utility spinning out and crashing into a nearby guardrail. Subsequently, the unidentified vehicle reportedly fled the scene, leaving significant damage to both the Mustang and the Toyota.
Police have launched an investigation into the incident and are particularly keen to speak with the driver of a silver-coloured car observed in the area at the time of the crash. Anyone who witnessed the incident or has information that could assist police is encouraged to contact Albury Police Station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. All information can be provided confidentially, and the public is reminded not to report information via social media.
