Motorists travelling southbound on the Hume Highway through Thurgoona are advised to expect significant delays following a truck fire that has closed lanes near Thurgoona Drive.
Emergency services, including Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) and Transport for NSW, were called to the scene this afternoon, Thursday 18 July 2025, after a B-double truck caught fire.
The incident, reported by the NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS), has led to the complete closure of the southbound lanes of the Hume Highway approaching Thurgoona Drive. Drivers are urged to use diversions that have been put in place.
Alternative routes include Wagga Road and Thurgoona Drive, which can be used to rejoin the Hume Highway further south. Authorities are advising all motorists to exercise extreme caution when travelling through the area and to allow for extra travel time.
