🚴‍♀️ Major Cycling Event to Bring Road Closures in Blue Mountains

AlertsNsw National Parks 2 min read

Residents and visitors to the Blue Mountains National Park area should prepare for significant traffic disruptions on Sunday, November 16, 2025, due to a major charity cycling event, the Go For Broke VIC100. This inaugural event will see closures and delays on Bells Line of Road (westbound) and Darling Causeway.

The VIC100 is a challenging 100-kilometre closed-road cycling event that will take participants from Penrith to Mount Victoria via the iconic Bells Line of Road. Organised by Ed Kirk, who also runs the established 'Go For Broke' event, the VIC100 aims to raise funds and awareness for mental health, partnering with Lifeline.

The route features over 2200 metres of vertical climbing, including steep ascents at Bell Bird Hill and Mount Tomah, offering a unique opportunity for up to 800 riders to experience the stunning Blue Mountains scenery on a traffic-controlled route. The westbound lane of Bells Line of Road will be closed to all through traffic during the event, with only residents permitted access to the eastbound lane.

Event organisers, Go For Broke, have worked closely with Transport for NSW and Police to facilitate the closures, which have been confirmed after clearing several community hurdles. Travellers are strongly advised to avoid the affected areas on Sunday, November 16, and to follow all directions from road signage and event staff.

For specific closure information and event details, please visit the VIC100 - Go For Broke website.
