UPDATE: 🚨 Driver Charged After Serious Wentworth Falls Crash

A 52-year-old driver is set to face court following a two-vehicle collision on the Great Western Highway in Wentworth Falls last week, which left a motorcyclist in a critical condition.

The incident occurred around 3pm on Saturday, June 28, 2025, when emergency services were called to the Great Western Highway, near Tableland Road, Wentworth Falls, following reports of a van and motorcycle collision. The crash led to significant traffic delays and a full closure of the highway in both directions, impacting motorists throughout the Blue Mountains region.

Officers from Blue Mountains Police Area Command and Traffic and Highway Patrol Command attended the scene. Paramedics from NSW Ambulance treated the 28-year-old male motorcyclist, who was subsequently airlifted to Westmead Hospital in a critical condition. The 52-year-old male driver of the Mercedes van involved was transported to Katoomba Hospital for mandatory testing.

Investigation Leads to Charges

A crime scene was promptly established, and police commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash. Following comprehensive inquiries, the driver of the Mercedes van was taken to Katoomba Police Station.

He has since been charged with causing bodily harm by misconduct while in charge of a motor vehicle and negligent driving occasioning grievous bodily harm. The driver was granted conditional bail and is scheduled to appear at Katoomba Local Court on Monday, July 7, 2025.

Police are urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident or possesses dash cam footage to come forward as inquiries continue.
