🔫 Child stable after hunting trip shooting near Bourke

A young boy is recovering in hospital after being injured during a hunting excursion approximately 40 kilometres north of Bourke. The nine-year-old boy sustained a gunshot wound to his right thigh and was transported to Bourke Hospital on Friday evening.

The incident occurred while the child was participating in a hunting trip with a group of nine individuals, comprising four boys and five men, all reportedly from Victoria. Officers from the Central North Police District are conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the event.

As part of the investigation, seventeen firearms, including air rifles, rifles, and a shotgun, have been seized. Police are continuing to inquire into the firearms licences of those involved. Authorities are appealing for anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers.
