A 24-year-old man is facing serious charges including predatory driving and possessing a prohibited drug after an alleged road rage incident in Leppington early on Sunday morning.

Emergency services were called to Camden Valley Way, Leppington, around 12:45 am on Sunday, October 19, 2025, following reports that a person had been struck by a car. Officers from Camden Police Area Command arrived to find a 45-year-old man who had allegedly been hit. He was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics at the scene and transported to Liverpool Hospital, where he remains in a stable condition.

The driver, the 24-year-old man, was arrested at the scene. He underwent mandatory testing, which allegedly returned a positive result for cannabis. A subsequent search of his vehicle also reportedly uncovered a quantity of the illicit substance.

He was taken to Narellan Police Station and charged with predatory driving and possessing a prohibited drug. Predatory driving is a particularly serious offence under Section 51A of the NSW Crimes Act 1900, carrying a maximum penalty of five years imprisonment and an automatic licence disqualification of three years, although this can be reduced to 12 months by the court. The alleged discovery of cannabis also highlights New South Wales' strict drug driving laws. It is illegal to drive with any detectable amount of Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) in your system, irrespective of whether impairment is proven or if it was from legally prescribed medicinal cannabis.

The accused man was granted conditional bail and is scheduled to appear before Picton Local Court on Thursday, November 6, 2025.
