Police have laid charges against a fourth individual following an alleged shooting incident that occurred in Bankstown earlier this year, as investigations under Strike Force Osage continue.
The incident dates back to Friday, 7 February 2025, when a 17-year-old boy, accompanied by an 18-year-old man, presented at Bankstown Hospital with a gunshot wound to his right leg. Following this, a crime scene was established at a park on Mulga Street in Punchbowl, where a spent ammunition cartridge was recovered for forensic examination.
Detectives from Bankstown Police Area Command subsequently launched Strike Force Osage to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
The initial arrest saw the 18-year-old man who accompanied the victim to the hospital charged with several offences, including concealing a serious indictable offence. He remains before the courts.
Further inquiries led investigators to execute search warrants at two homes in Greenacre on Thursday, 27 February 2025. During these operations, a loaded firearm, cocaine, MDMA, and cash were seized from a property on Wilbur Street. An 18-year-old male occupant was arrested and charged with alleged firearms offences. He also remains before the courts.
On Wednesday, 30 May 2025, a second man, aged 19, was arrested at a correctional facility in Silverwater and faced alleged firearms offences. He too remains before the courts.
The latest development saw police arrest a 19-year-old man at a home on Wilbur Street, Greenacre, on Friday, 13 June 2025. He was transported to Bankstown Police Station and charged with supply prohibited drug (more than indictable and less than commercial quantity), possess unauthorised pistol, and recklessly deal with proceeds of crime (more than $5,000).
He was refused bail and is scheduled to appear before Parramatta Local Court on Saturday, 14 June 2025.
