🚨 Three Arrested in Auburn Following Alleged Kidnapping

PoliceNsw Police 2 min read

Three people have been taken into custody after an alleged kidnapping incident that saw police descend on a home in Auburn over the weekend. The arrests come after a 42-year-old man was allegedly abducted from his Riverwood home on Sunday, November 2, 2025.

Officers from Cumberland Police Area Command initially received reports around 8am on Sunday that a group of unknown individuals had forced their way into a Riverwood residence, allegedly assaulting the man before taking him from the scene. The investigation was then taken over by detectives attached to Campsie Police Area Command, which includes Riverwood within its operational area.

Following extensive enquiries, detectives, with support from officers from Auburn and Cumberland Police Area Commands, attended a property on Susan Street, Auburn, at approximately 8pm yesterday. Upon arrival, police found the 42-year-old man allegedly being assaulted by a woman. The woman, aged 44, and two men, aged 28 and 33, attempted to flee but were apprehended after a short foot pursuit.

All three suspects were transported to Burwood Police Station. The victim was assessed by NSW Ambulance paramedics at the Auburn scene before being taken to hospital for further medical attention. A second crime scene was established at the Auburn address, where police seized a Mitsubishi SUV believed to contain cable ties and a baton.

Kidnapping and abduction cases remain a serious concern across New South Wales. Recent data indicates that 574 victims of kidnapping/abduction were recorded in Australia in 2024, with NSW consistently reporting significant numbers. While some highly publicised incidents in Sydney have involved extreme violence, often linked to organised crime, authorities generally advise that the risk to the general public remains low.

Cumberland Police Area Command, which assisted in the arrests, has previously seen its boundaries realigned to enhance local service delivery and more effectively manage crime trends and community needs.

Investigations into the alleged kidnapping are ongoing. Police are urging anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or visit https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au. Information can be provided confidentially, and the public is reminded not to report information via NSW Police social media pages.
