Planning DevelopmentPpr Finalisation 1 min read

A significant urban renewal project is nearing its final stages, set to reshape the Woodville Road Corridor with a particular focus on Merrylands East. The Woodville Road Corridor Planning Proposal (PP-2024-873), currently in its finalisation phase with the NSW Planning Portal, aims to revitalise the area by updating planning controls across 31 sites.

This ambitious proposal targets three key precincts: Woodville North, Woodville South, and a proposed new local centre in Merrylands East. The changes are designed to amend the Cumberland Local Environmental Plan 2021, paving the way for substantial development and improvement along this vital transport artery.

Residents and stakeholders in Merrylands will have an opportunity to review the plans during a public exhibition period scheduled from Tuesday, March 4, 2025, to Friday, April 17, 2025. This follows a determination date of November 1, 2024, and marks a crucial step before the proposal is returned to the Department for final assessment and drafting of the Local Environmental Plan on September 3, 2025.

The comprehensive planning proposal includes detailed assessments covering urban design, flood risk, air quality, noise impact, social infrastructure, traffic and transport, and economic feasibility. The revitalisation efforts promise a refreshed landscape and new opportunities for the Merrylands community.
