A second teenager has been charged in connection with an alleged stabbing incident at Merrylands Railway Station earlier this week, as police continue their investigation into the serious assault.
Emergency services were called to the Merrylands station around 5:15pm on Monday, 1 September 2025, after reports of a stabbing. Paramedics treated a 16-year-old boy at the scene before he was transported to Westmead Hospital in a critical condition. The young victim is reportedly still recovering in hospital.
Officers from Cumberland Police Area Command quickly established a crime scene and launched an investigation. Police allege that the 16-year-old boy had an interaction with two unknown males before he was assaulted and the attackers fled.
Following initial inquiries, a 17-year-old boy was arrested yesterday, Tuesday 2 September 2025. In a new development, a second 17-year-old boy attended Sutherland Police Station today, Wednesday 3 September 2025, where he was subsequently arrested and charged with a string of serious offences.
The charges laid against the second teenager include:
- Cause wounding/grievous bodily harm to person with intent to murder
- Wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm
- Armed with intent to commit serious indictable offence
- Use knife in public place โ cause person to fear for safety
- Custody of knife in a public place
- Travel on concession ticket when not entitled
- Affray
He was refused bail and appeared before a Children's Court today.
