🚧 Lane Cove National Park Closures Impact Turramurra Access

Turramurra residents are advised of significant disruptions and closures within the nearby Lane Cove National Park due to essential geotechnical works and facility changes.

From March 31, 2025, to September 15, 2025, Lane Cove Depot Road and sections of Max Allen Road beyond the Lane Cove Cafe will be closed to all pedestrians, cyclists, and vehicles. This will also impact several popular picnic spots, including Turrumburra, Bakers Flat, Casuarina Point, Cormorant Corner, Haynes Flat, and Thistlethwaites picnic areas. Park authorities note that weather conditions may extend these closure periods.

In addition to these extensive closures, the Sugarloaf carpark within Lane Cove National Park is now permanently closed to the public. Visitors are encouraged to find alternative parking arrangements before visiting the park.

Further impacting parkgoers, some toilet facilities will operate on a reduced schedule. Toilets at Carters Creek (Area 9), Scribbly Gums (Area 17), and Haynes Flat (Area 32) will be closed during weekdays, opening only on weekends, public holidays, and during school holidays. This arrangement does not apply to areas with existing bookings, where toilets will remain open.

The NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) reminds all visitors to adhere to signage and instructions from staff and contractors, as penalties may apply for non-compliance. These changes are crucial for the ongoing maintenance and safety of the park facilities for the benefit of the community.
