🚗 Crash on Pacific Highway Impacts Turramurra Traffic
Residents and visitors to Turramurra are advised of several significant updates regarding Lane Cove National Park, including a range of closures and an ongoing pest management program.
The National Park and Wildlife Service (NPWS) has announced that the Sugarloaf carpark within Lane Cove National Park is now permanently closed to the public. Additionally, some toilet facilities at Carters Creek (Area 9), Scribbly Gums (Area 17), and Haynes Flat (Area 32) will operate on a reduced schedule, opening only on weekends, public holidays, and during school holidays, unless specific bookings are in place.
Further disruptions are expected with major road and picnic area closures scheduled from March 31, 2025, to September 15, 2025. These closures are necessary for essential geotechnical works and may be extended depending on weather conditions. Affected areas will include Lane Cove Depot Road and part of Max Allen Road (beyond Lane Cove Cafe and area office), along with several popular picnic spots: Turrumburra, Bakers Flat, Casuarina Point, Cormorant Corner, Haynes Flat, and Thistlethwaites picnic areas.
Visitors should also be aware of an ongoing 1080 pest management program targeting foxes. This baiting initiative is continuous from February 1, 2025, to July 31, 2025. Signs mark all baiting locations, and the public is strongly cautioned not to touch baits. Domestic pets are not permitted in national parks, and pet owners are reminded that 1080 poison is lethal to cats and dogs. Immediate veterinary assistance should be sought in the event of accidental poisoning.
The NPWS urges all park users to observe signage and follow instructions from staff and contractors. For further details, the NPWS Chatswood area office can be contacted on 02 8448 0400 during business hours, or the after-hours call centre on 1300 056 294.
