Wauchope residents and visitors are advised that access to Werrikimbe National Park is currently restricted following adverse weather conditions. Roads within and leading to the park have sustained damage, with some sections now requiring a 4WD vehicle, while others are completely closed.

Road Access Update:

The Hastings Forest Way and Racecourse Road are both open, but extreme caution is advised, and only 4WD vehicles should attempt these routes. Forbes Road also remains open with caution for 4WDs. However, Cockerawombeeba Road is closed between Forbes Road and North Plateau Road, and Rimau Road is also impassable.

Park Closures:

Due to a significant tree fall, North Plateau Road, Plateau Beech Campground, and the King Fern Walking Track within Werrikimbe National Park are currently closed to all visitors. Brushy Mountain Campground, however, remains open.

Visitors are urged to exercise extreme caution, particularly when approaching waterway crossings such as the Forbes River crossing on Racecourse Road, and to check water depths before proceeding. These measures are in place to ensure the safety of all park users.
