🌧️ Wet Weather Warning for Brindabella Park Trails

The NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) has issued a safety alert for visitors to Brindabella National Park, particularly those travelling from Queanbeyan, warning about challenging conditions on several trails following wet weather.

McIntyres Trail, Lowells Flat Trail, and Waterfall Trail are particularly affected, becoming wet and slippery, potentially making traction difficult or rendering some sections impassable. These are steep, 4WD-only trails that can become unsafe during or after rain.

Visitors heading to McIntyres campground or Lowells Flat campground should exercise extreme caution. Only high-clearance 4WD vehicles with low-range capability, off-road tyres, and experienced drivers are suitable for these areas. AWD and SUVs are not recommended due to the terrain.

It is also crucial to note that phone service in these remote areas is very limited or non-existent, making it difficult to call for assistance. Trail and crossing closures can be implemented at short notice, so visitors should always check weather forecasts and the NPWS website for the latest updates before venturing out. Drive safely and adjust to the conditions.
