🎨 Nowra Gallery Hosts Inspiring Student Aboriginal Art

The Shoalhaven Regional Gallery in Nowra is set to host a powerful new exhibition titled 'Home', showcasing Aboriginal artworks created by talented local primary school students. This special display celebrates the concept of 'home' through the eyes of young artists from Falls Creek, Greenwell Point, Nowra, Sanctuary Point, and Tomerong Public Schools.

As part of a unique three-term program, these students engaged deeply with First Nations art and culture through a series of hands-on workshops and virtual excursions. A highlight of the program saw them collaborate directly with esteemed local First Nations artists, Aunty Cheryl Davison and Aunty Deidre Martin, at the gallery.

The 'Home' program is a collaborative effort between the Art Gallery of New South Wales, the NSW Department of Education's Arts Unit, and our very own Shoalhaven Regional Gallery. It aims to forge stronger connections between schools, local Aboriginal artists, community, language, and cultural heritage.

Visitors to the gallery at 12 Berry Street, Nowra, will have the opportunity to view works directly inspired by these enriching workshops and the profound cultural knowledge shared by Aunty Deidre Martin and Aunty Cheryl Davison. The 'Home' exhibition runs from October 24 to November 15, 2025.
