๐ข Pyrmont Ferry Services Disrupted by Vessel Breakdown
Pyrmont's own Australian National Maritime Museum is set to host the world premiere exhibition of the Ocean Photographer of the Year 2025 finalists, opening its doors on November 6. This highly anticipated exhibition will allow visitors to immerse themselves in the ocean's awe-inspiring beauty and confront its pressing challenges, just in time for World Photography Day.
The exhibition, a collaboration with Oceanographic Magazine, will showcase a diverse collection of breathtaking images spanning nine categories, including works by 12 acclaimed Australian photographers. These photographs delve into themes ranging from the deep connection between humanity and the sea to the stark realities of climate change, plastic pollution, and marine exploitation.
Will Harrison, Director of Ocean Photographer of the Year, highlighted the critical role of these visuals. "In the midst of a deepening climate and biodiversity crisis on our blue planet, ocean photography has never been more important. These images are far more than just beautiful โ they are powerful visual testaments to what we stand to lose, and they remind us of the urgent need for protection."
Ms Daryl Karp AM, Director and CEO of the Australian National Maritime Museum in Pyrmont, also expressed her enthusiasm. "We are proud to once again partner with Oceanographic Magazine to bring these extraordinary images off the screen and page and into a gallery. The stories behind these photographs are as compelling as the visuals themselvesโthey challenge us to see the ocean not just as a place of wonder, but as a world in need of our care."
The overall winner, along with category winners, will be announced in London on September 18, ahead of the Pyrmont exhibition opening next month.
