Attention visitors of Bargo State Conservation Area and Joadja Nature Reserve. NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) is conducting an aerial baiting program from Monday 19th May – Sunday 1st June 2025, targeting wild dogs and foxes using 1080 poison (sodium fluoroacetate).

This operation aims to protect wildlife, especially threatened species, and minimize the impact of wild dogs on neighboring livestock.

Please note:

  • Signs will be posted at the entry to baiting locations.
  • Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW National Parks managed lands.
  • Pets and working dogs may be affected as 1080 is lethal to cats and dogs. Restrain or muzzle pets in the vicinity and prevent them from entering baiting locations.
  • In case of accidental poisoning, seek immediate veterinary assistance.

Additionally, Joadja Nature Reserve will be closed on weekdays from Monday 2nd June to Friday 13th June 2025, excluding public holidays and weekends, for aerial pest control operations. Penalties apply for non-compliance.

For more information, contact the local Glenbrook NPWS area office on 02 4720 6200.
