🏡 Bega Land Release to Pave Way for 2,200 New Homes

Planning DevelopmentPpr Pre-Exhibition 1 min read

A substantial urban land release planning proposal is progressing for the Bega Valley, set to significantly reshape the region's residential landscape. The proposal, currently in its pre-exhibition phase via the NSW Planning Portal, outlines plans to rezone approximately 279 hectares of land within Bega.

Currently zoned for rural, rural residential, or productivity support purposes, the land is slated for rezoning to a mix of low-density and rural residential, commercial, and public open space zones. This strategic move aims to facilitate the creation of an estimated 2,200 new residential lots through future development applications.

The planning proposal is a direct implementation of the recommendations put forth in the adopted Bega Structure Plan, with some minor adjustments. This comprehensive approach ensures that future development aligns with the community's long-term vision for Bega.

Key details of the proposal, including various reports covering bushfire risk, contamination, flood management, flora and fauna, and traffic assessments, are available for review. For inquiries regarding the proposal, Graham Judge is the contact person at the NSW Planning Portal, while Sophie Thomson can be contacted at Bega Valley Council.
