🚨 Doonside Man Charged After Reckless Pursuit and Crash
A 25-year-old man from Doonside is facing a raft of charges after a police pursuit through Sydney's west yesterday, which saw an unmarked police vehicle damaged and two officers injured.
The incident unfolded just after 9:15 PM on Friday, July 4, 2025, when officers from the North West Metropolitan Region attempted to stop a silver SUV driving without its headlights on along Mandoo Drive, Doonside.
When the vehicle failed to stop as directed, a pursuit was initiated. The chase continued to Huntingwood Drive in Eastern Creek, where the SUV allegedly collided with an unmarked police car. Two male senior constables sustained minor injuries in the crash and were treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics at the scene, requiring no further hospitalisation.
Following the collision, the driver was arrested. Police allege the man resisted arrest and assaulted a male senior constable, leading to the deployment of a Taser. A subsequent search of the man allegedly uncovered and seized a quantity of drugs, believed to be cocaine, methylamphetamine, and prescription tablets.
The vehicle involved in the pursuit is also alleged by police to have been stolen from an address in Woodcroft on Thursday, April 10, 2025.
The man was taken to Blacktown Police Station where he was charged with numerous offences, including driving a conveyance taken without consent, police pursuit – not stopping – driving dangerously, driving without a licence, failing to stop at a red light, using an offensive weapon to prevent lawful detention, hindering or resisting a police officer, assaulting a police officer without aggravated bodily harm, two counts of possessing a prohibited drug, possessing a prescribed restricted substance, and two counts of possessing goods suspected of being stolen. He was also charged with breach of bail.
He was refused bail and is scheduled to appear at Parramatta Bail Court today, Sunday, July 6, 2025.
