๐Ÿš— Two-Car Crash Clears M4 Westbound Near James Ruse Drive, Auburn

Transport IncidentsIncident 1 min read

Auburn commuters experienced significant delays this morning following a two-car crash on the M4 Motorway westbound, approaching James Ruse Drive. The incident, which occurred earlier today, November 19, 2025, led to the closure of Lane 1, causing heavy traffic in the area.

Emergency services, Transport for NSW, and tow truck operators were quickly on the scene to manage the situation and clear the wreckage. Motorists were advised to reduce their speed and prepare to merge as the disruption impacted a crucial section of the state road network in Auburn.

The M4 Motorway is a vital connection for Western Sydney, frequently operating at capacity during weekday peak hours and significantly contributing to commuter and freight delays. Disruptions on this route can have widespread effects across the region. The M4 Smart Motorway project, which extends from Penrith to Parramatta, was designed to improve traffic flow and safety. Since its full activation in December 2020, the project has seen a 40 per cent reduction in accidents and a 20 per cent decrease in travel times on this stretch of road compared to pre-upgrade figures.

Fortunately, Transport for NSW has confirmed that the crash has now been cleared, and traffic conditions are gradually returning to normal. Drivers are always encouraged to check Live Traffic NSW for the latest updates before travelling.
