🚄 Goulburn Train Delays Hit Route 621 to Melbourne
Visitors to Goulburn River National Park should be aware of upcoming closures and a planned baiting program, as announced by the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS).
Spring Gully and Big River Campground will be closed from Sunday, May 18th to Thursday, June 5th at 1800hrs. This closure is due to a pest control program involving aerial and/or ground shooting. The following areas will be inaccessible during this time:
Penalties may apply for non-compliance. For more information, contact the local NPWS office.
From Monday, May 19th to Sunday, June 1st, 2025, the NPWS will conduct an aerial baiting program in Avisford Nature Reserve (NR), Capertee National Park (NP) and managed Crown Land, Dapper NR, Durridgere State Conservation Area (SCA), Goodiman SCA, Goulburn River NP, Mugii Murum-ban SCA, Munghorn Gap NR, and Yarrobil NP.
The program aims to control wild dogs and foxes using 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison. The goal is to minimize the impact of predators on wildlife, particularly threatened species, and to reduce the effect of wild dogs on livestock.
Warning signs will be posted at the entrances to the baiting locations. Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW National Parks. Pets and working dogs must be restrained or muzzled nearby and are strictly prohibited from entering the baiting locations, as 1080 is lethal to cats and dogs. Immediate veterinary assistance should be sought in the event of accidental poisoning.
