🚨 Police Student Charged with Mid-Range Drink Driving

A police student at the NSW Police Academy in Goulburn is facing charges of mid-range drink driving following an incident that occurred early on Saturday, 14 June 2025.

Security officers at the Academy were alerted around 12:15 AM to damage sustained by a front boom gate at the entrance. Further inspection led officers to locate a vehicle parked on the side of McDermott Drive, with a 33-year-old man in the driver's seat.

The man, identified as a police student, underwent a roadside breath test which returned a positive result. He was subsequently arrested and transported to Goulburn Police Station, where a secondary breath analysis recorded an alleged reading of 0.108, placing him in the mid-range category.

As a result, the student was issued a field court attendance notice for driving with middle range PCA (Prescribed Concentration of Alcohol), and his NSW driver's licence has been suspended. He is scheduled to appear before Goulburn Local Court on Wednesday, 16 July 2025. The police student has been stood down from his duties, and his professional suitability is currently under review.
