🚗 Crash on Pacific Highway Impacts Turramurra Traffic
An ongoing 1080 pest management program is currently active in the Lane Cove National Park, prompting a crucial warning for Turramurra pet owners who frequent the area. The NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) commenced the fox baiting program on February 1, 2025, and it is scheduled to continue until July 31, 2025.
The program utilises manufactured and fresh baits containing 1080 poison (sodium fluoroacetate) to control fox populations within the park. While vital for environmental management, this poison is lethal to domestic animals, particularly dogs and cats. Park visitors are strongly advised not to touch any baits encountered.
Signs clearly mark all baiting locations throughout Lane Cove National Park. It is imperative that domestic pets are not brought into national parks and reserves, as they are prohibited. For pets and working dogs that may be in the vicinity for legitimate reasons, strict restraint or muzzling is required, and they must not enter baiting areas. In the unfortunate event of accidental poisoning, immediate veterinary assistance is critical.
Turramurra residents and all park users are urged to exercise extreme caution and be aware of their surroundings when visiting Lane Cove National Park during this period.
