A tragic accident in Dee Why has resulted in the death of an elderly pedestrian following a collision with a vehicle earlier this week. The 85-year-old man, who was critically injured at the scene, passed away in hospital on Wednesday.
Emergency services were first alerted to the incident on Tuesday, June 3rd, shortly before 5:45 PM. They arrived at Dee Why Parade to find a pedestrian had been struck by a car. NSW Ambulance paramedics provided immediate treatment for a severe head injury sustained by the man before transporting him to hospital in a critical condition.
The driver of the vehicle, a 75-year-old man, was not physically harmed during the collision and was also taken to hospital for mandatory testing as part of standard procedure. The area was cordoned off, with officers from the Crash Investigation Unit establishing a crime scene to thoroughly examine the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Police confirmed yesterday that the injured pedestrian had succumbed to his injuries. A report is now being compiled for the Coroner. Authorities are appealing to the public for any information that may assist their investigation, urging anyone who witnessed the event to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
