Residents and visitors to Wauchope are advised of significant road damage within Bago Bluff National Park following severe weather events experienced earlier this year. The heavy rains have caused considerable erosion, impacting access to popular park areas.
According to a safety alert from the National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS), key access routes have been affected. Specifically, access to the Bago Bluff Lookouts and Rollover Road is now best achieved by taking Milligans Road and then turning onto Rollover Road. For those wishing to visit the Lorne Flora Reserve Walking Track, the recommended approach is from the east via Blackbutt Road.
NPWS crews and contractors are actively engaged in repairing the damaged roads and trails. Park users are urged to exercise caution and be aware that heavy plant and machinery may be encountered on site during these works. It's important to drive carefully and adapt to the current conditions.
For any further information or to report concerns, please contact NPWS Port Macquarie directly on (02) 6588 5555. Bago Bluff National Park is a cherished natural asset for the Wauchope region, and these repairs are essential for ensuring continued safe enjoyment of the park.
The NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) manages a network of national parks across the state, with Bago Bluff being a significant natural reserve in the Port Macquarie-Hastings area, known for its scenic lookouts and walking trails.
