🚨 Police appeal to locate 14-year-old Aislinn Mortlock
The NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) is conducting an ongoing 1080 baiting program for the control of wild dogs in several nature reserves accessible to Queanbeyan residents. This program commenced on March 3, 2025, and is scheduled to continue until September 2, 2025.
The operation, which uses 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison, is taking place across Brindabella National Park, Bimberi Nature Reserve, Wee Jasper Nature Reserve, and Oak Creek Nature Reserve.
Signs will be prominently placed at the entry points to all baiting locations to alert visitors. As a critical reminder, domestic pets are strictly not permitted on NSW National Parks managed lands. The 1080 poison is lethal to both cats and dogs. Pet owners in the vicinity must ensure their animals are restrained or muzzled and prevented from entering any baiting areas. In the unfortunate event of accidental poisoning, immediate veterinary assistance is essential.
For additional information regarding this vital wildlife management program, please contact the NPWS Queanbeyan area office on 02 6229 7166.
