🚨 Police appeal to locate 14-year-old Aislinn Mortlock
The NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) has announced an ongoing 1080 baiting program for wild dog control in several areas frequented by Queanbeyan residents, effective from March 3, 2025, until September 2, 2025.
The program, which utilises 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison, will be conducted in Brindabella National Park, Bimberi Nature Reserve, Wee Jasper Nature Reserve, and Oak Creek Nature Reserve. Signs will be prominently displayed at the entry points of all baiting locations to alert visitors.
The NPWS strongly advises that domestic pets are not permitted in NSW National Parks managed lands. The 1080 poison is lethal to cats and dogs, and pet owners who are in the vicinity of these areas must ensure their animals are restrained or muzzled and do not enter baiting zones. In the unfortunate event of accidental poisoning, immediate veterinary assistance is crucial. For additional details, residents can contact the NPWS Queanbeyan area office on 02 6229 7166.
