A 31-year-old man has been charged following a dramatic police pursuit across the South Coast yesterday, Thursday 3 July 2025.

Officers from Traffic and Highway Patrol and the South Coast Police District attempted to stop a sedan on Hillcrest Avenue, South Nowra, around 2:45pm. This action followed reports of the vehicle being driven erratically on the Princes Highway near Falls Creek.

When the driver allegedly failed to stop, a pursuit was initiated. As the chase continued through Nowra, the sedan was reportedly involved in minor collisions with two other vehicles. Thankfully, no injuries were reported in these incidents.

The pursuit intensified when the sedan crashed into a concrete median strip near the Nowra Bridge, causing both front tyres to deflate. Despite this, the vehicle continued east onto Bolong Road, where police successfully deployed road spikes. The pursuit finally concluded on Bolong Road in Shoalhaven Heads, after a minor collision with a marked police vehicle.

The driver was arrested at the scene and transported to Nowra Police Station. He has been charged with a string of offences, including driving recklessly or dangerously, police pursuit – not stopping and driving dangerously, intentionally throwing an object at a vehicle risking safety, two counts of failing to exchange particulars with another driver, driver using a mobile phone when not permitted, and stalking or intimidating with intent to cause fear of physical harm (domestic related).

The man was refused bail and was scheduled to appear before Parramatta Local Court today, Friday 4 July 2025.
