The RFS, the lead combat agency for bush fires in NSW, also plays a crucial role in responding to a variety of other emergencies in rural districts, including structural fires, motor vehicle accidents, and vehicle fires. This particular incident, categorised as a 'Car Fire', currently shows a 'Responding' status by the RFS, indicating ongoing efforts to manage the situation.
While Tumbarumba is also home to a Fire and Rescue NSW station on Winton Street, staffed by on-call firefighters, the primary responsibility for incidents like this in the wider rural area often falls to the RFS.
