Investigations are currently underway following an incident in Darlinghurst where a 35-year-old man was struck by a police vehicle on William Street early Saturday morning. The incident, which occurred around 3:10 AM on Saturday, July 5, 2025, led to emergency services being called to the scene.
Police from Kings Cross Area Command were responding to reports of a brawl in the Sydney CBD, travelling along William Street in Darlinghurst with lights and sirens activated. Initial inquiries suggest a pedestrian ran onto William Street and collided with the moving police vehicle.
The injured man received immediate assistance from officers before NSW Ambulance paramedics arrived. He was then transported to St Vincent ’s Hospital, where he is reported to be in a stable condition. The constable driving the police vehicle was treated at the scene for shock.
Previously, bus services in Darlinghurst were affected, with Transport for NSW implementing diversions for city-bound buses on William Street at the intersection of Crown Street due to the pedestrian crash. Commuters experienced altered routes and missed stops during that time.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the full circumstances surrounding the collision. Anyone with information or dashcam footage from the area around the time of the incident is urged to assist police with their inquiries.
