An deeply engaging multi-sensory art installation, 'Our Lullabies: An Ode to Mother's Tongue,' by Jes R. R. Alexander, is set to open in Nowra. This unique exhibition aims to honour the lullaby as a vital keeper of cultural memory and foster human connection across generations and cultures.

The installation invites visitors to pause, sit, listen, and reflect, engaging with both the lullabies of diverse Illawarra communities and their own personal songs. By sharing the cultural histories and lived experiences embedded within these voices, the work prompts reflection on themes of belonging, displacement, and the enduring strength of cultural memory. It offers an intimate opportunity to participate in a profound act of tenderness, remembrance, and cultural continuity.

Jes R. R. Alexander is an interdisciplinary artist, community arts producer, and art therapist, whose practice focuses on the transformative power of art for healing and connection, often exploring nostalgia, lineage, and yearning. She is also a co-founder of PALAVA, a female-led arts collective, and a Lead Creative Producer at Beyond Empathy.

The exhibition will be showcased at 12 Berry Street, Nowra, from Friday, July 26, 2025, until Saturday, October 18, 2025.
