πΆπ½ββοΈNAIDOC Street March to Cause Road Changes in Tweed Heads
Three teenagers have been apprehended and charged in Tweed Heads following a dramatic cross-border police pursuit involving a stolen vehicle from Queensland.
The incident unfolded yesterday afternoon, Sunday, June 29, 2025, when officers from the Tweed/Byron Police District were alerted by the Queensland Police Service. They were advised that an orange ute, reportedly stolen from a Queensland address, was travelling south on the M1 motorway, heading towards New South Wales.
Queensland PolAir provided aerial surveillance of the vehicle as it crossed the border. Upon its entry into NSW, officers from the Traffic and Highway Patrol successfully deployed road spikes, which deflated the ute's tyres. A brief pursuit ensued before the vehicle came to a halt at a service station near Tweed Heads.
Police swiftly moved in and arrested the three occupants: two boys aged 14, and a 15-year-old girl. All three were transported to Tweed Heads Police Station for processing. During the investigation, a phone found within the vehicle was seized for forensic examination.
The 14-year-old driver of the stolen ute faces multiple charges, including police pursuit β not stop β drive dangerously, driving a conveyance taken without the owner's consent, and receiving stolen property from outside NSW valued at over $15,000. Both the other 14-year-old boy and the 15-year-old girl were charged with being carried in a conveyance taken without the owner's consent and receiving stolen property from outside NSW valued at over $15,000.
All three teenagers were refused bail and are scheduled to appear before a children's court today, Monday, June 30, 2025.
