Emergency services have relaunched extensive search efforts in Tweed Heads for Patrick Liedke, a 39-year-old man who disappeared over a year ago.

Mr Liedke was last observed between 1pm and 2pm on Monday, 22 April 2024, in Gray Street, Tweed Heads West. Following his failure to return home and subsequent inability to be contacted, officers from the Tweed-Byron Police District initiated inquiries into his whereabouts.

Initial multi-agency land searches, involving local police, Queensland Police, VRA Rescue NSW, and the State Emergency Service (SES), were conducted over several days in the Piggabeen and Currumbin Valley areas. These efforts were suspended on Wednesday, 1 May 2024.

Today, Saturday 21 June 2025, a renewed search operation is underway in the bushland surrounding the Tweed Heads area. Police are being assisted by more than 100 dedicated members from the SES and VRA. This concentrated search is scheduled to continue throughout the entire weekend and coincides with a planned training exercise.

Authorities continue to appeal to the public for any information that might assist in locating Patrick. Anyone with details regarding his whereabouts is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
